Geography and Climate

Taizhou Railway Station is located in the northeast of the downtown of Taizhou. There are many trains departing from or passing by Taizhou. The flag-fall price of taxi is 8 Yuan/3 km, and after 3 km, it charges 1.8 Yuan/km; as for a one way trip over 5 km, there will be a no-occupancy surcharge, i.e. 50 percent of the fare for the actual mileage; in regard to a round trip (the starting point and destination are the same place no matter whether the driving route is changed or not), there will be no no-occupancy surcharge. Shipo Painting

The “Shipo Painting” of Xinghua is a wonder, originating in the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368). The subject matters of Shipo Painting include broken books damaged by water, fire or worms, official documents, private letters, contracts, correspondences, etc. Therefore, people call it “Shipo Painting”. Shipo means picking up broken (old) objects.

The old objects on the painting look extremely vivid due to their strong three-dimension effect. Now, the number of such painters is decreasing, so such works can be collected as art works.

Taixing Puppet

Taixing is the “hometown of puppets”, and the Guangling Town is the birthland of Taixing, originating in the mid-Qing Dynasty (1644-1912). It has a history of over 300 years. The puppets of Guangling Town are made of wood, solid, hollow or just mask. In the puppet show, the figurines are manipulated by wooden rods.
